Robert P. Graves is an openly gay author, speaker, and project manager for a regional healthcare organization based in Buffalo, New York. His memoir, I, Rob Graves, chronicles his lifelong struggle with childhood trauma, depression, bipolar disorder, and addiction, while offering a message of resilience, self-acceptance, and hope.
Robert was first diagnosed with chronic clinical depression at age sixteen, though he had been battling its effects since childhood. As he navigated the challenges of coming out and adulthood, his depression evolved into bipolar disorder, which remained undiagnosed until age forty-four. Through therapy, medication, and a commitment to personal growth, he ultimately found stability and healing.
Today, Robert is active in community service, including his work with the Alzheimer's Association, and is passionate about promoting mental health awareness and forgiveness. He is also developing the Mr. Oslow & Friends children's book series, which teaches emotional intelligence, empathy, forgiveness, and kindness through creative and engaging stories for young readers.
Drawing on his own experiences, Robert encourages others to embrace self-acceptance, practice forgiveness, and recognize that healing and growth are possible at any stage of life.
